Occupational Health & Safety StandardOHSAS 18001:2007
Although not an ISO Standard, OHSAS18001 has been developed fill a need since there is no ISO Standard covering occupational health and safety.
That said, it is entirely compatible with ISO9001 and ISO14001 and they share many principles.
To obtain certification, organisations need to be able to demonstrate that they have
- procedures for risk assessment, risk control and hazard identification
- structured health and safety training and required competences
- emergency procedures and response mechanisms
- formal communication channels for disseminating health and safety information to the workforce, contractors etc
- Performance measures and improvement plans
OHSAS 18001:2007 supercedes the previous OHSAS 18001:1999 Standard which is no longer recognised.
